Fishing tips
August 19, 2013 09:35AM
Hello all.

I have been lurking (if anyone noticed my absence).

And of course I have been enjoying all Da Bird's posts and Basil's and Almostythere's etc.

Q: I am planning on Young's again, last time I got skunked casting into the lake. Any anglers around these parts have any tips? I heard that the streams are pretty good at times. I am using a spinner with various lures, no flies.

Thanks in advance and thanks for as always stoking my innervisions of solitude while the sirens wail and the homeless moan.

OK. Seriously...

If you want to catch the elusive Yo-Sem-IT-EEEEE Fish...

Get yourself a 1/32 and 1/16 Panther Martin Classic Regular Spinner "Regular Gold".
Look here:
http://www.panthermartin.com/Lures/spinners/regular

Gold Spinner, Black Body, Yellow Dots

That one

Get those... and that is all you need. If you don't catch any fish... then fo-get-a-bout-it.

Dy-no-mite might work... but I think that not allowed

O ... when you got a fish on the line remember to yell
"Fish-On"

The other method that can work is to take trusty trail boat... arm yourself with a
can of peas and a small billy club... put a few peas in the water... when fish comes
up to take a P... club it..
tongue sticking out smiley

Have fun (and get the Panther Martin Lures)

Thanks Chick-on! Yes I have that lure, I'll get a couple more..should I be nice and snub the barb? A ranger once told me that I had to have barbless, he also told me not to use powerbait (which I don't) cause it's basically littering..

also i thank you for your sage-like advice to sit down...sensai arigatou

Not entirely true. Please look at this:
http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/fishing.htm

Barbies are allowed almost everywhere cept a few places in the park.
If ur catch and release only... maybe squish away anyway... (the barbs.. not the fish)

Have fun

I thought that was only for ice fishing.

I went Ice Fishing once. The key word is once...

After you do that you hit yourself over the head with the billy club.

When are you going? I have not fished any of Yosemite lakes but I fly fished in Yosemite Creek and the S. fork of the Merced last month and the water was low and warm and fishing was only fair in pools. The water flow is lower now so I would not try any fishing in creeks.
