When I first started hiking in the Yosemite area, I remember a missing hiker bulletin, a hiker never to be found I thought, until the mystery was solved in 2010:

Here is another article on Pat Hadley, who died participating in Bob Burd's "Sierra Challenge". I didn't know her, but she sounds like she was a very special person, and very experienced in the Sierras. A good reminder to be safe out there!
