May Lake Daybreak
August 28, 2013 06:03PM
Sunrise at May Lake is always a treat. I got up early to see if I could capture a few shots.

By 6:30 am the sun was up and the lake looked like this...

nice but not glowing as I had seen on previous visits...

so I focus on lake side rocks and ...

reflections...

that seem to take on a deeper hue..

actually a glow...

that spreads...

to light up Mount Hoffman and its reflection...

in May Lake.

Thanks for the great photos! I love the evolution of the "glow" in the reflection, until it is finally revealed in its full glory! I need to see this in person!

Thanks for posting. I was at May Lake once and experienced the same thing you did. Brought back memories.
A guy standing next to me at the time commented the reflection reminded him of an aligator mouth. Look at your last photo and see if you agree.

More like the beak of some hideous malformed bird. No ... surely it couldn't be ... could it? smiling smiley
