That is a possibility. There was significant lightening activity in that area the day of and the days before the fire. A strike doesn't always result in an instant fire. A hit could smoulder for days and then, when conditions are right, ignite.

And this is how rumors start. The chief mentioned it as a possibility, but affirmed that there's no way to really know. That it started in brush.

If it started in an area inaccessible to firefighters that area would also be pretty much inaccessible to pot farmers.
