Inyo National Forest has released an Environmental Assessment (EA) on a proposed project north of Mammoth Lakes near the Shady Rest area. The project proposes to design and build an Over Snow Vehicle/Off Highway Vehicle (OSV/OHV) staging area located off Sawmill Cut-Off Road (03S08) near Highway 203 and the town of Mammoth Lakes. Four alternatives are presented in the EA which is available in hard copy upon request or online at http://www.fs.fed.us/nepa/fs-usda-pop.php/?project=38834. A 30 day public review period will begin September 27, 2012. Comments may also be submitted by email kdrich@fs.fed.us, or hand delivered weekdays 8:00 am – 4:30 pm at the above address.
