A high wind warning is in effect from Thu, Nov. 21 at 7 pm through Sat, Nov. 23 at 4 am. The park is currently open, but all park campgrounds are closed as a safety precaution. Adjustments to closures may be made based on conditions and the forecast.

I've not heard of this before. Are the winds in the Valley going to be that high?

Maybe ~20 years ago they closed the campgrounds and Curry Lodging one evening during Thanksgiving due to high winds--not in the valley, but along the rim. (We were fortunate to have been in the old Yos. Lodge cabins w/o bath, which were not affected by the evacuation, but other accommodations in the Lodge area were.) I think the concern was stuff blowing off the valley rim and falling into the valley. Also, the power went out for several hours that night due to the winds affecting the power lines into the valley.

This one comes to mind. What was even more sad about this one is that the adults were warned to get out of that area and they didn't.
