Except for the fact that there chicken on the pizza (not chick-on), that's pretty close to perfect.

Cold pizza on the trail in Yosemite!

thumbs up

Pizza Factory. And I have been to maybe a dozen Pizza Factorys and Bishop's, so far, has been my preference. Lone Pine is more "greasy" but, certainly welcome after a hike up the big hill.

Okay, I've had both Lone Pine and Bishop Pizza Factory. Can't say there is anything special about either one. Biggest thing I noticed about Lone Pine is the prices (they know there isn't a lot of choice there).

Price of an extra large pizza (three toppings) was $6.00 less in Cours d'Alene than Bishop (last summer.) Pizza was OK.

If we didn't all have different tastes, there wouldn't be so many places to eat. And I am picky...I'd rather eat what I or my husband cook, except for pizza.

Lone Pine is the only Pizza Factory that I've been to that has been any good imo.
Only been to 3. Groveland, Oakhurst, and Lone Pine.
The other 2 I'll only go back to kicking and screaming.

Oakhurst is the original Pizza Factory, but the Bishop Pizza Factory is the best, IMHO. (Haven't been to the Groveland one yet, though it's the one I have driven by the most.)

So I'm going to be in the Valley at the end of March, staying in Curry Village. I've never been to the world famous pizza deck. Is it even open then?? Or do I have to suffer horrific disappointment. Mercy.

Who carries perishable foods like oranges, cucumbers, apples and other heavy items when backpacking? This topic reminds me of a trip many years ago from TM down river and up to WW caring heavy foods for girls I was hiking with. I'm a dry food person myself. The things you do for love.

An update to establishments in Bishop...there will be a new burger place where the Sizzler used to be and at the old in-town Safeway/Vons site will be a pub calleed Mountain Rambler Brewery (next to Golden State Cycle.) The Thai Thai restaurant may've closed as I've seen an abandonment of ficticious name notice in the paper. Of course, some of you may already know all of this...I learned of Whiskey Creek closing here. Speaking of Whiskey Creek...I believe Mammoth Lakes Brewing is moving into the Mammoth location.

(A sign on the front of Holy Smoke...they've "made it" two years.)

Lack of business. And the "hibachi" restaurant that was there more recently was not very good...did go there once. (Once was too many...)

Never went there at all. If nothing else, was annoyed with the Sizzler being gone (especially its salad bar).
