avatar Inyo National Forest and SCE Announce Rhinedollar Power Line Replacement
June 26, 2014 01:39AM
Southern California Edison (SCE) and the Inyo National Forest announce that work to replace the failing Rhinedollar Power Line in Upper Lee Vining Canyon is underway. This replacement is necessary to meet current State and safety standards and to provide increased reliability to the customers served by this line, which includes the Tuolumne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park. SCE will be placing a new power line on forest lands within the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Highway 120 right-of-way, from Ellery Lake to just past the Yosemite National Park Entrance. To minimize environmental impacts, the old direct buried power line that is located in Dana Meadows will be abandoned in place. This project is expected to be completed by late August.

Because this project is located within the Caltrans Easement along Highway 120, traffic control will be necessary. Motorists should expect up to 20 minute delays. Traffic control will be limited to sunrise to sunset, and will be discontinued over holiday periods. The Inyo National Forest, Southern California Edison, and Caltrans appreciate the public’s cooperation while this work progresses.
