Park and Ride in Mammoth Lakes

Park and Ride Mammoth

Just a warning to all,
Put my car in Park and Ride parking lot in Mammoth Lakes (Tavern and Old Mammoth) early last week, intending to take the 6:00 AM YARTS to Tuolumne and walk back/return over Donahue Pass. Upon returning to Mammoth, only to find 2 parking tickets (@$45 each) for parking in the Mammoth P&R lot. (BTW, it should have been 3...whatever.)

Just a warning, instead of parking in the large parking lot overnight (which says "Park and Ride"winking smiley, would make sense as it is large and safe, you should park on the street - cheaper. I guess you can only park there in the daytime...(which seems silly as 4 hours each way to the Valley?)
What's up with this BS, Mammoth?

Mammoth needs a better solution to this. When we did that same trip, we stayed overnight in town to connect with the morning YARTS. But we had to leave the car up the hill at the ski lodge the evening before and catch the local shuttle back into Mammoth before its last run of the day in order to use their designated parking lot.
