You mean they weren't waiting for him to retire?

Tilley, I agree with you. Finally. Been waiting a long time, understanding the identity of the hunter who started the fire was known.

Now it comes out that only did they catch this guy right when the fire started but he kept changing his story like some moron. Then they let him live normally for over a year simply because HE asked that they don't publicly name him. As though he deserves that right for being such a good citizen. They must have threatened him with a sentence of dying of old age.

A bad smell here still coming from authorities. Who is Kim Emerald and why have authorities been protecting him? Is he one of them?

Down south in the San Joaquin River canyon below Mammoth Pool reservoir, the French Fire is now contained. That was apparently started by another person or group that abandoned a long log in some illegal fire pit at their disperse camp down at the end of some little spur road off Minaret Road. You know the lazy types that light up some huge log that will never completly burn just because it is convenient. Probably abandoned while they drove off to buy another case of beer and ammo at North Fork to shoot empty cans.

The articles say they rescued him, by helicopter, from the fire.

His name is Keith Emerald, not Kim.

And here is an ABC 30 Action News Frenso video news report and article that mentions among other things... “Emerald has a previous charge for camping in a restricted part of Yosemite.”

(It seems like he is one of our many citizens nowadays that appear to think the rules and regulations are for others to follow, but that he, himself, is exempt.)

at the time I would have willingly had the B hung for what he did. but having to live with all that responsibility/guilt? (if he actually feels any). uggh!
I only have two questions.
if he was rescued after one hour of the fire being started why was the response in fighting it so poor.
is hunting, bow or otherwise, legal in Stanislaus?Pounding head on desk

Emerald pleads not guilty, as was expected.

It's the first step in getting a plea deal.

Only time will tell if there will be plea deal. Certainly, it is not automatic.

Next court proceedings Oct 14
