San Francisco is unreasonably monopolizing spectacular Hetch Hetchy Valley by using it as a 117-billion-gallon reservoir, says a new lawsuit in a decades-old fight to restore the Yosemite National Park landmark. The lawsuit asks a court to require a plan for improving the city’s water system so no water is lost in restoring the valley. It also asks for modification or removal of O’Shaughnessy Dam in Yosemite to let the Tuolumne River flow again.

If the drought continues it may be empty in a couple of years anyway.
A close friend (does IT work at Early Intake) tells me horror stories about O’Shaughnessy Dam's interior. Seems that, over the years, little to no monies has gone back into maintenance work on the structure...the damn dam is falling apart from within.

Considering the length of time (and money) a lawsuit takes, probably quicker to let it fall apart all by itself.
Consensus there says 20 years tops. No quick fix either as only solution on site would be to erect another ($8 - $10 billion?) dam just below O’Shaughnessy.
SF is too busy painting bike lanes and bus lanes to worry about something as silly as a water supply.
The only reason anyone does politics in SF is to brown nose their way to Sac or DC....they could care less about the city and infastructure.
