Sad news, according to the Park's Facebook page/website:

http://www.nps.gov/yose/learn/news/missing-hiker-in-yosemite-national-park-found-deceased.htm

For those that don't want to click the link, it says:

"Yosemite National Park Rangers found the body of James Michael Millett Jr. yesterday, September 1, 2015. His body was found above Yosemite Valley. There are no further details available at this time. An investigation is ongoing."

Yosemite National Park rangers found the body of James Michael Millett, Jr. on September 1, 2015, two days after discovering a car that had been left at a popular trailhead parking lot for an extended period of time.

Late in the evening on August 30, rangers noticed the car and began investigating to determine if the vehicle belonged to someone on an extended backpacking trip or was abandoned. After ruling out those possibilities, an aerial search for the missing man began on the morning of August 31. Authorities initially searched a large area of rugged terrain leading toward Yosemite Falls, a destination indicated in a note left in the car. Additional information narrowed the search area on the second day, which made it possible for rangers to locate the body of the missing man. The body was airlifted by helicopter from the North Dome area.

Millet, an experienced traveler, was currently living in the Bay Area. An investigation into his death is ongoing.

Sad news. Many things could have happened, but I thought perhaps trying a shortcut back down to the Valley from North Dome was one of the likely scenarios. Just speculating. At least family and friends have some closure. Not all families get that - I still wonder what happened to George Penca, for instance. Or the young girl that disappeared from Sunrise Camp 20-30 years ago.

While not widely publicized, I thought they recovered George Penca's body at the bottom of Upper Yosemite Falls.

It's was reported on this site by AlmostThere. She's familiar with YOSAR's operations so I assume her report was factual:
