...Winter storm warning in effect from 10 pm this evening to
10 pm pst monday...

The national weather service in hanford has issued a winter storm
Warning for heavy snow...Which is in effect from 10 pm this
Evening to 10 pm pst monday. The winter storm watch is no longer
In effect.

* hazard types...Heavy snow.

* accumulations...8 to 19 inches above 7000 feet.

* timing...Snow will begin late sunday evening. The heaviest
Snowfall is expected after midnight monday through mid morning.
Snow levels will be above 9000 feet sunday evening lowering to
Near 7000 feet by late monday morning.

* impacts...Slick...Snow covered roads and winter driving
Conditions...Possible road closures...Blowing and drifting snow
Accompanied by wind chill temperatures as low as the teens by
Monday evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Weekend hikers and campers should consider adjusting their travel
Plans before the onset of stormy...Wintry and much colder weather
Late sunday night and monday.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
Conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
Snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
An emergency. If you must travel...Keep an extra flashlight...
Food...And water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

10 pm pst this evening.

* timing: early this morning into this evening.

* snow accumulations: 4 to 7 inches above 7000 feet with 1 to 2
Feet near the sierra crest above 9000 feet.

* snow levels: 9000 feet falling to near 6500 feet.

* impacts: be prepared for hazardous driving conditions along
Highways 203 and 395. Tioga pass and sonora pass are closed.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Check road conditions before heading out and be prepared for
Travel delays. Drive with patience as even one spin out can lead
To long travel delays.

Just looked at Badger Pass cam (1:44 pm pacific time) and there is snow on the ground. Yeah.

And the Sentinel Dome cam shows snow sticking to the trees.

Started as rain early morning...turned to snow about 10:00 AM.
Now ~ 3 " on the ground, big wet flakes...white over yellow Aspens, here in town, Mammoth Lakes!
