Sonora, Calif. (February 23, 2016)…The final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Draft Record of Decision (ROD) regarding the Bell Meadow, Eagle Meadow, and Herring Creek (BEH) project on the Stanislaus National Forest (STF) is available for public viewing. Implementation of the BEH project can begin following the release of the Final ROD; more information and related documents can be found on the STF website.

The purpose of this project is to continue to authorize livestock grazing in the project area, implement an adaptive management strategy and ensure compliance with regulations and agency policy. There is a need to implement an adaptive management system that will continue to move resource conditions toward desired conditions in a manner consistent with Forest Plan goals and objectives.

Livestock grazing occurred on the Stanislaus National Forest since prior to its establishment in 1897. The 1995 Rescissions Act requires National Forests to establish and adhere to a schedule for completion of NEPA analysis and decisions for grazing allotments, even where grazing has been ongoing for long periods of time. The BEH project is designed to meet this requirement while addressing resource concerns and ensuring compliance with management direction.
