Spring is here and bears will begin their year foraging on grasses in meadows, among other things. After decades of hard work, 2015 marked a record low number of bear incidents park-wide. This success will only continue if everyone works together to continue to protect wildlife by:
- Keeping your homes secure when nobody is home (windows and doors closed and latched).
- Storing pet food, recycling, and other possible attractants in a secure part of your house.
- Keeping your vehicles free of all food, trash, recycling, and other scented items.
- Reminding others to keep their distance from all park wildlife, and never feed them.
- Slowing down on park roads - last year 39 bears were hit by vehicles in Yosemite!
- Reporting bear activity and food storage violations to the Save-A-Bear Hotline (209)372-0322.
