Bottom of article has link to map where you can zoom. My favorite aspect: how it advertises Overhanging Rock. Looking at the vehicle drawings, it doesn't appear that the road around the valley was one-way yet.

That was pretty neat. Interestingly enough, just today I learned about the Rumsey collection (of maps), which apparently owns/stores this too.

It's kind of goofy. I liked the dedication note to Mather.

Thanks. The map is cute. The accompanying article not so much so. Here's a quote from the near the end:

"And the 3,000-foot "El Capitan" appears on the opposite corner, scaled by a rock-climber for the first time in history in 2015."

Riiiiiiight. (The author obviously meant the free climb of the Dawn Wall in 2015, which *was* a first.)

Yeah...and I thought this was pretty clueless as well:

"At the turn of the 20th century, after the California gold rush had brought many people to the area, the number of Indians decreased dramatically..."

Most of the native population in California was "decreased" long before the turn of the 20th Century....and the Gold Rush was in 1848-1850....lumping a lot of things together in that sentence!

Nice to see the "vintage" names on certain things..."Ahwahnee" and "Camp Curry"

I never did see the firefall but I did get a chance to play the Ahwahnee Golf Course as a kid.

I saw the firefall a few times. Hard to believe that they thought that was a good idea....

I am still sorry that I passed up buying a couple of salt and pepper shakers in Sonora two years ago that featured the firefall....sigh
