...Winter storm possible tuesday night and wednesday...

A fast moving system is forecast to impact the sierra and western
Nevada tuesday night and wednesday. Our main concerns with this
Storm are the potential for brief rapid snow accumulations in the
Sierra along with the threat for snow as low as 4500 feet across
Western nevada. Gusty winds are likely ahead of this system but
Should only impact travel for high profile vehicles.

Based on the latest simulations, snow is forecast to begin in the
Sierra tuesday night or early wednesday morning. Rain and snow is
Likely to spread across western nevada as a cold front moves
Through the region sometime wednesday. The heaviest precipitation
With this type of system typically occurs in a short duration
Along the cold front.

The timing of the system is crucial for snow accumulations on
Roads. If the cold front moves through the region early wednesday
Morning, snow is more likely to accumulate on roads above 5000
Feet. However if the cold front passes through the region around
Midday wednesday snow is unlikely to stick to paved surfaces near
And below 6000 feet.

Those planning to travel in the sierra tuesday night and
Wednesday, should be prepared for the typical travel delays
Associated with winter weather over the passes. Across western
Nevada, impacts to the wednesday morning and/or evening commute
Are possible even if most of the precipitation occurs as rain.
