El Portal and BOF roads closed
February 07, 2017 12:25PM
BOF is closed due to heavy water flow on the road and rock-fall. El Portal Rd (140) is closed from Park Line to the BOF Rd junction due to heavy water flow and rock-fall.

Looks like I won't be going to the "Croaking Toad" tomorrow. It's in the Large Break Room in El Portal, but Hwy 140 is probably covered with rocks and such too.

It is/was suppose to reopen at 2:30 pm today and so far I have not heard anything saying it didn't. Have not heard anything about BOF reopening yet.

I'd postpone any trip until next week. More rain, and more rocks, are coming.

We had been thinking about going this weekend too but are going to go another time. Today the roof of our house started leaking so need to take care of that.

The Big Oak Flat Road in Yosemite National Park (Highway 120) is currently closed from Crane Flat to Foresta due to a rockfall. On Sunday morning, February 5, 2017, debris and several boulders fell into the road. There is no access to Yosemite Valley via The Big Oak Flat Road. Park road crews have been working to clear the roadway. At this time, there is no estimated time that the road will reopen.

There is also water and debris on both the El Portal Road (Hwy 140) and Wawona Road (Hwy 41). All visitors coming to Yosemite National Park are encouraged to drive with caution. Several storm systems will be moving through Yosemite National Park over the next several days. Temporary road closures may go into effect at any time for the safety of park visitors.

In Yosemite Valley right now, and wondering how we're getting back to the Bay area tomorrow. If you CAN make it up to Yosemite and don't mind getting wet, you'll have the place to yourself (relatively speaking) - we went up to the bridge below Vernal falls this afternoon and saw no one else until we got to the bridge itself.

If you're lucky you'll be able to go out through Arch Rock. That might be open first.
