The trail from the Yosemite Valley Lodge to the Lower Falls Footbridge is temporarily open. The Lower Falls Footbridge and the trail on the east side of the bridge toward lower housing remain closed. Please stay within the roped off and fenced in area. Areas marked closed remain closed under the Superintendent's Closure Order.

What kind of hazardous conditions caused the paved, main trail to close?

The trail from the east remains closed because the footbridge over Yosemite Creek was heavily damaged by the flood waters and frazil ice.

Was up there the other day. The frazil ice was really thick, covering the viewing area ~3ft deep. It had previously covered the bridge and the creek was flowing over the bridge before melting out recently.

Notice the top of the bench sticking through the snow.

Looking down onto the bridge.
