...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

* LOCATIONS...Southern Sierra Nevada across Yosemite National
Park.

* HAZARD TYPES...Reduced visibilities in heavy snow. Snow
accumulating on trees and power lines.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches.

* TIMING...Snow starting Saturday evening and becoming heavy
Sunday afternoon before ending Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous travel conditions with reduced
visibilities and blowing snow. Possible power outages due to
heavy snow on power lines.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.

Wow. I am confident they are both capable and prepared.

I'm thinking that I may need to push my trips to the end of August to let all this snow melt...

yea...you should see some of the photos of Tioga pass this past weekend. The chimney of the building to the right of the gate is almost completely covered!

I'm excited for all this snow grinning smiley. I usually don't have much time in winter to do trips so barely get to see snow...looks like that changed this year grinning smiley

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM SATURDAY TO
10 PM PST SUNDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Southern Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park
to Kings Canyon National Park.

* HAZARD TYPES...Reduced visibilities in heavy snow. Snow
accumulating on trees and power lines.

* SNOW LEVEL...Around 7000 feet Saturday evening, lowering
through the night down to near 4000 feet Sunday.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 12 to 24 inches above
6000 feet with 3 to 12 inches between 4000 and 6000 feet.

* TIMING...Snow starting Saturday evening and becoming heavy at
times Sunday morning and afternoon, diminishing Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...The heavy snow may make many roads impassable and
may produce power outages due to the weight of the snow on
tree limbs and power lines. Gusty winds will lead to blowing
snow, reduced visibility, and additional power outages.

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. If you must travel,
keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case
of an emergency.
