Re: Yosemite National Park Announces One Night Closure on Big Oak Flat Road

Yosemite National Park will close the Big Oak Flat Road to all vehicular traffic from 9:00 pm onMonday, May 15, 2017 to 5:00 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. This closure is necessary for paving on the roadway. Paving will continue throughout the day on Tuesday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 17, with single-lane closures and up to 15 minutes delays.

Is this still a thing? The road was paved and striped when we went in last Sunday, and nothing new going on Friday when we left. The dogwoods, waterfalls and flooded meadows were amazing.

Most likely, they want to put down ANOTHER LAYER of asphalt on the road.

Nope. It isn't government works that do the paving. Most likely a quick paving job was done to get the road open since there was some urgency. Now they need to do the real paving job so it will last.
