Tioga Pass will not be open for this holiday weekend, and there is still no estimated opening date. But plowing crews have rounded the corner near Ellery Lake, making good progress toward the Yosemite National Park entrance gate.

To be clear for those who not familiar with the area. This is the progress Caltrans is making on the EAST SIDE of the pass, along Tioga Pass Road (Hwy CA-120) between Lee Vining/Hwy US-395 and Tioga Pass, the east entrance of Yosemite National Park.

According to the park's twitter, the plowing has reached the Olmsted Point avalanche zone. But they will stop there for now to assess the safeness of the area, and plow other areas of the road.

From Caltrans District 9

State Route 120 west - Tioga Pass

Crews have removed snow up to ½ mile from the Yosemite National Park east entrance gate. The snowpack is estimated to be 12 to 15 feet at the entrance gate.
