Looks like people were pretty hardy back then...altitude didn't seem to bother them. I loved the footage of them zooming up half dome ! Those guys had Chick-On speed

That was made in the same era as the Keystone Cops movies. I don't know exactly what went into determining when/how much the speed of the motion would get changed, but speeding it up for effect seems to have been popular. Somethings never change. Even back then, hikers were eating Chef Boyardee out of a can (in the film, after summiting Mount Lyell).

They wore woolen coats from Pendleton instead.
