Lost Nikon DSLR 3300 -- REWARD!!--- Vernal Falls, Yosemite
September 16, 2017 02:49PM
Coming down from a super late descent of Snake Dike, my climbing partner was becoming noticeably dehydrated around midnight of September 14th. Finally arriving to Vernal Falls, I made us take a break and I purified some water just at the top of the falls, about 30 feet upstream of the fence along side the river. I'm almost certain I forgot to put my Nikon DSLR 3300 camera in a black neoprene case with a broken UV filter in the pocket back inside my bag because it was dark, after a super long day, and I was distracted. PLEASE help me find my camera!!!! I was traveling back from New Zealand so there are a lot of EPIC photos on it. REWARD will be provided to someone who can contact me about this- 610-295-7236 or Kaylaangstadt@gmail.com for contact information.

There's probably a lost and found at the visitor's center in the valley. You might want to contact them. Good Luck !!

Hopefully Yosemite has a higher number of honest folks and someone turned in your camera into the lost and found. The pictures are worth more than the camera. Though it's more unlikely that someone would take the camera but leave the memory card with L/F. It would be an expensive "finder's fee" if someone did that, but at least you'd have your photos. I wish you luck getting everything back.

Similar thing happened to someone I know. He misplaced/lost his Garmin 60csx GPS during/after a long hike. More than likely it happened on one of the crowded shuttle buses. But also could have been at the Village Store on one of the benches in front, while enjoying a couple of cold beers. Or maybe even along the Snow Creek trail (not as likely). August 5, 2017 was the date, in the unlikely event someone on this forum turned it in. Again, it's not really the device itself. Rather it's all the waypoints and everything else that was logged. Dates and places. Lots of history lost. He wishes he had placed some type of sticker with personal info on the device, or a simple note card in the carrying case. Strange part is that the carrying case is usually securely clipped onto his waist. Maybe he was pickpocketed on the shuttle? Probably not. Perhaps the clip snapped on the loud, crowded shuttle.

In my friend's situation, he wanted to make sure it was actually lost (looked everywhere in his house) before he reported it only about a week ago. We'll see how long it takes to hear back from the park, with any type of news (good or bad).

Wow, sorry to hear that. I lost my camera in Curry Village back in 2011. I know that feeling. But somebody actually found mine and turned it in to the lost and found. I was able to recover it the next day. Hopefully yours gets returned too.
