Seen near lower Cathedral Lake last week. About 3 inches long.

Snakes shed their skin so you found a nice example of a shedded skin. The wide sections in the skin are the scale plates on the underside of the snake which they use to move.

Yes, clearly a snake skin. I would guess it's a rattlesnake, judging from the width. But I would not at all expect to find rattlers at that elevation.
