This last weekend we returned for what has become a (mostly) annual trip to the Emigrant for a very pleasant ramble around the granite. Without much of a plan, we explored some terrain we hadn't seen before like Pingree, the North Fork of Cherry Creek, the Lord Meadow / confluence area, and then finished by going up the outlet from Big Lake past Hyatt.
Plenty of water meant great cascades, however at these flows crossings of West and North forks of Cherry creek were mellow (but still cold). The flowers seemed to ALL be in bloom. Mosquitos were present, but minor. Open granite and a bit of a breeze meant only a few bites over the entire trip. Saw one other group on the main. A wonderful time to be down there. Thanks again to all who generously share info and advice on this site.
