...THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE EASTERN SIERRA NORTH TO
LASSEN COUNTY...

At 143 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking thunderstorms over the
Eastern Sierra with others developing over Lassen County.
Thunderstorms will continue through 4 PM. Wind gusts up to 50 mph,
small hail, and brief heavy rain will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Reno, Carson City, South Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Lakes, Tahoe City,
Gardnerville, Lee Vining and Bridgeport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Hikers and campers should seek shelter in a vehicle if possible.
Tents and trees are unsafe shelters during thunderstorms. Stay away
from creeks and streams as water levels may rise rapidly near
thunderstorms.

Well, yes there were. We got hammered by thunder, lightning and torrential rain (maybe even a little hail, it was hard to tell) in Lyell Canyon yesterday. Pretty darn impressive.
