Chapel Sugar Maple

Has anyone been to the valley within the past few days? I was wondering if the sugar maple is near or in peak color yet. Last year we were there way after the peak color. Thanks.

It sure looked like peaky last Sunday. Sorry only drove thru El Cap xover though. Don't have picture even at Tunnel View. Was on way back to bay area.
And previous week only going in to get a wilderness permit.
Yowza the number of burn piles in the valley.
Finally got to the new improved Mariposa Grove. What a wonderful job. Feels so so so idyllic. Just a wonderful job.
The parking lot was half full on a Thursday in October though. Not sure why they didn't make it bigger.
Also, the railings just make it feel so right on way to Grizzly. Wish they would have done entire "loop" that way.
And also more around Three Bachelors.
Looking forward to exploring more of the grove and what they did (though... we hiked the outer loop a few times when the rest of the grove was closed). smiling smiley

Have fun

Thanks for the update. I have been looking at the trees in Ahwahnee Meadow trying to judge how the fall colors are going. We were going to go this weekend to check out the colors but our plans changed. At least, with what you said, we won't be disappointed that we missed the maple tree. Noticed the burn piles the last time we were there - wow, there are a lot. It is shocking to see all of the fire damage along the 41 and if there is a heavy rain or snow I am sure the road will be closed due to rockslides and trees that might come down the hillsides. That is the way we always go into the park so we have not seen what it looks like on the 140. Have not made it to Mariposa Grove yet and can't wait to see it.
