Almost every news story about the incident places it "near" or "above" Nevada Fall. The only one I've come across that doesn't get the location wrong, wisely doesn't refer to it at all. 
I gather that one of the first people who reported the story must have been thinking "Vernal" but somehow ended up saying "Nevada". Others who picked it up apparently didn't know the difference so they just kept repeating "Nevada".
