MONDAY...

* CHANGES...Blizzard Warning issued.

* WHAT...Heavy snow with blizzard conditions expected. Additional
snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet along Highway 395, with 4 to 8
feet above 7000 feet west of Highway 395. Snow drifts could be
deeper than 10 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph this
afternoon through Monday with gusts to 100 mph over ridges.


* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 4 PM PST Tuesday.
For the Blizzard Warning, from midnight tonight to 10 PM PST
Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be dangerous and could be
impossible. Snowfall rates and winds will create periods of zero
visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact commutes
through the entire warning period. Strong winds could cause tree
and powerline damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel!
Road crews and first responders may not be able to rescue you.
Stay indoors until the snow and wind subside. Even a short walk
could be deadly if you become disoriented.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST TUESDAY
ABOVE 5000 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow above 5000 feet. Additional snow accumulation
today through Tuesday up to 4 feet above 5000 feet. Between 4000
and 5000 feet, 1 to 2 feet of snow are possible Monday and
Tuesday. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph along the crest.
Snow levels will be around 5000 feet today, then lowering to
4000 to 4500 feet by Monday morning. Snow levels will drop below
4000 feet Monday night and Tuesday.

* WHERE...Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon and Tulare
County Mountains.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM PST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to
impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning
or evening commute. Strong winds could cause extensive damage
to trees and power lines.

The time lapse on the High Sierra webcam at Sentinel Dome has shown some significant snowfall over the last two days (Saturday and Sunday). If Monday's snowfall is anything like they are predicting, we might not be able to see much of anything from that webcam when the storm clears.

You're right, the snow is piled high in front of the camera, only Clouds Rest and Echo Peaks are visible (left side of the camera is obscured by condensation and an icicle). But the webcam views of Yosemite Falls and HD from Ahwahnee Meadow are stunning right now.
