...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible above 4,000 feet. Total snowfall of
one to two feet is conceivable. Accumulating snow is possible
in elevations between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. Winds could gust
as high as 60 mph on exposed ridgetops and near the crest.

* WHERE...Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon and Tulare
County Mountains.

* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through late Sunday night. There
may be a break in snowfall Saturday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could become very difficult to
impossible. The hazardous conditions may impact the morning or
evening commute. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to
trees and power lines.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant
snow that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest

...ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW THIS WEEKEND WITH THE STRONGEST STORM
SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY...

Another round of storms will impact the region this weekend. While
snow accumulations aren`t expected to rival those from last
weekend, disruptions to travel could still be significant.

* Storm 1 - Late tonight

A very weak system will bring light snow to portions of Lassen
County along with the Surprise Valley and northern washoe County.
Up to 2 inches is possible.

* Storm 2 - Friday night through Saturday morning.

This storm is expected to begin to impact the Sierra Friday
evening with 6 to 14 inches of snow possible by Saturday morning.
Temperatures will remain cold with low snow levels and light
fluffy snow. As much as 1-2 inches could accumulate in the lower
valleys of western Nevada and northeast California, but the better
chance of accumulation will be in the foothills.

Most areas will see a break in the snowfall on Saturday, although
much of the Sierra may not see much of a break.

* Storm 3 - Saturday night through Sunday

A stronger storm is expected to impact the region late Saturday
night through Sunday evening. Initial estimates are for this storm
to bring additional snowfall accumulations of 1 to 3 feet or more
in the Sierra with another round of accumulating snow in western
Nevada and northeast California valleys. Best estimates for these
lower valleys are 1 to 4 inches, but are highly dependent on how
quickly the front moves through the region.

Travel Precautions-

The second and third storms are expected to occur during periods
of peak skier commutes over Sierra passes. So, while total
snowfall accumulations seem small compared to last weekend,
disruptions to travel could be significant. Translation:
you could be stuck in your car for an extended period of time or
experience long delays. So come prepared.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM FRIDAY TO 10 PM PST
SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 10
inches east of Highway 395 with 10 to 18 inches west of Highway
395, except 1 to 3 feet above 7500 feet west of Highway 395
expected. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph with ridge winds
gusting as high as 105 mph.

* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Friday to 10 PM PST Sunday. Heaviest snow
expected late Friday night and again Sunday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to
impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the ski
commute Friday evening and again Sunday. Very strong winds
could cause extensive tree damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for
many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry
an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay
home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.
