PARTS OF THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT
WEEK...

A COUPLE MORE STORM SYSTEMS WILL IMPACT THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA
INTERIOR DURING THE NEXT 7 DAYS. THE NEXT STORM WILL TRACK
THROUGH THE REGION RATHER QUICKLY EARLY THIS WEEKEND AND IS NOT
EXPECTED TO BRING MORE THAN LOCALIZED NUISANCE FLOODING. THERE
IS CURRENTLY HIGHER CONFIDENCE THAN USUAL THAT THE STORM THAT
FOLLOWS WILL BRING AN ABUNDANCE OF TROPICAL MOISTURE INTO CENTRAL
CALIFORNIA FROM MARCH 5TH INTO MARCH 6TH ALONG WITH SUBSTANTIAL
PRECIPITATION AND A HIGHER THREAT OF SIGNIFICANT FLOODING...
ESPECIALLY IN THE FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS. MILD AIR ASSOCIATED
WITH THIS STORM WILL KEEP SNOW LEVELS WELL ABOVE 9000 FEET DURING
THIS PERIOD.

HISTORICALLY...HEAVY RAIN TOTALS CAN BRING LOCALIZED FLASH
FLOODING AND ASSOCIATED IMPACTS SUCH AS WASHED OUT ROADS AND
BRIDGES...MUD SLIDES...ROCK SLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS...PARTICULARLY
IN THE VICINITY OF THE BURN SCARS. MINOR STREET FLOODING CAN OCCUR
IN URBAN AREAS AND IN OTHER AREAS OF NORMALLY POOR DRAINAGE.

RISING WATER LEVELS ARE ANTICIPATED ON RIVERS AND STREAMS DURING
THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN
WHERE THE COMBINATION OF RAIN AND MELTING SNOW WILL ACCELERATE
RUNOFF.

RESIDENTS SHOULD KEEP IN MIND THAT AREAS THAT HAVE RECENTLY
FLOODED OR NORMALLY FLOOD DURING HEAVY RAIN EVENTS COULD EASILY
FLOOD AGAIN. IF YOU LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA OR NEAR STREAMS
AND RIVERS...THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO PREPARE OR HAVE AN
EVACUATION PLAN IN PLACE IN THE EVENT HIGH WATER BECOMES A THREAT
TO YOUR SAFETY.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING ABOVE 7000 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible above 7000 feet. Total snow
accumulations around 1 to 2 feet possible. Winds could gust as
high as 55 mph.

* WHERE...Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon and Tulare
County Mountains, including Sequoia National Park.

* WHEN...From late Friday night through Saturday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to
impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant
snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue
to monitor the latest forecasts.

...Yet Another Winter Storm Saturday...

The first couple days of meteorological spring will continue the
active storm pattern we`ve seen in February. Our next storm
Saturday into Sunday will bring rain and snow impacts to the
region. Wind impacts do not look pronounced with this storm.

* Mountains and foothill areas above 5000 feet can expect periods
of snow starting pre-dawn Saturday lasting through Saturday
afternoon. Peak snowfall rates will be Saturday morning.
Significant travel impacts are possible with delays and chain
controls likely. Road conditions may improve some Saturday
afternoon if snow intensities lessen enough.

* Valleys of Western Nevada and eastern California will likely
start as wet snow pre-dawn Saturday with a changeover to rain
showers by Saturday afternoon. Accumulations on pavement are
uncertain due to projected near or above freezing temperatures,
however it`s best to plan on some travel delays Saturday
morning. Non-paved surfaces will probably pick up some light
snow accumulations. Road conditions should improve by Saturday
afternoon.

* Saturday Night into Sunday precipitation intensities become
lighter, with snow showers in the Sierra and mainly rain showers
for valley areas. Some travel impacts due to snow remain
possible in the Sierra on Sunday, but probably not as bad as
Saturday. A few thunderstorms with pellet showers could occur
in Western Nevada Sunday afternoon.
