Inyo National Forest is seeking comment on the Proposed Action and draft Environmental Assessment (draft EA) for the proposed Forest-Wide Invasive Plants Treatment Project. This project would treat invasive plant infestations forest-wide, using an integrated pest management approach and combining manual, mechanical, chemical, and biological control methods. An estimate of several hundred acres of invasive plants would be treated each year, following an annual implementation process to review site-specific treatments. The project can be viewed on the Inyo National Forest website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=38912.

The 30 day comment period will start on May 7 with the publication of the opportunity to comment legal notice in the newspaper of record (The Inyo Register). The comment period closes on June 6th. Only those who submit timely project-specific written comments during a public comment period are eligible to file an objection. Furthermore, issues raised in objections must be based on previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project or activity and attributed to the objector, unless the issue is based on new information that arose after the opportunities for comment. Comments may be submitted electronically on the project website listed above. Click on the Comment/Object on Project link on the right side of the page and follow the instructions.

You may also mail hard copy comments to Blake Engelhardt, Forest Botanist, 351 Pacu Lane Suite 200 Bishop, CA 93514; or deliver them to the address shown above during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm); or submit by Fax +1 760 873-2458. Names of commenters will be part of the public record subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Please contact Blake Engelhardt for more specific information about how to provide comments on the project or to obtain a copy of the proposed action and draft EA.
