Power Line Repairs For Big Oak Flat Tunnel Lighting

Starting next Monday, May 20th, crews will begin clearing brush around the failed power line between the El Portal and Big Oak Flat Roads. Then on May 28th a helicopter will begin setting new power poles to replace the damaged power poles. If they cannot replace all the poles in one day they may also be running flights on May 29th. You may see helicopter operations if you are along the El Portal or Big Oak Flat Roads or in Foresta where they are planning to stage the poles. The ground work will continue through the end of June with intermittent 15 minute delays as crew enter and exit the roadway with materials and supplies.
