Yosemite Fire and Aviation has declared fire season in the park due to hotter and drier weather conditions. Fire Season is officially enacted when the fire danger rating indices for the park show Moderate for 3 consecutive days. There are no wildfires burning in the park at this time. Please follow all local fire rules and regulations when recreating and help prevent human caused wildfires by making sure your campfire is out cold when you leave, using the “drown, stir, and feel method.”

I hope I don’t sound crabby, as I’m still under Tylenol from surgery on foot, but I wish they would just outlaw campfires completely. Not holding breath. But dang. So much damage from illegal fire rings... and one group builds and a following group thinks it’s ok or something. Grrr.

And the potential for bad fires.. sigh.

Snow nice, covers a lot of the crap.

Wishful thinking.

Unfortunately few know you. So they will read your post and think you a sourpuss.
I waaaah na have a fire. Ranger said I could!
They don't know you. How much you care so very much.
It's only a wittle bitty fire. It's ok.

Sigh.

Look on bright side. It's going to be a short season for most.

It's a mindset I think. Perpetuated by media. Pristine area. Beautiful.
Needs to have a fire ring in the middle of this meadow with my gear for sale.

Totally unnecessary.

Always the same. Don't build new fire rings. Right on permit.

And even with the very few trip reports. There's a picture with a fire ring in it.

Benson. Had been there a month earlier.. same spot... no fire ring.
O... look … there's one now. Yay!

Lost Valley. Right next to trail. What? Why?

Ok, I guess I care too much.

Please. Don't start a wildfire. Or just bring a nice light down jacket.

O... how's this:

Olmsted Point. May 3. Yay!

Cmon. Really?

Deep breath...

Chick-on is looking at you!
