SONORA, California – Acting Stanislaus National Forest Deputy Supervisor Beth Martinez signed Forest Order STF-16-2019-07, extending the closure of Crabtree Road on the Summit Ranger District. The original forest order, STF-16-2019-01, was signed April 15, 2019 and expired May 31. The new closure order will expire June 30, 2019.
“Recent spring storms dropped as much as three feet of additional snow in the area. As a result, we decided to extend the seasonal closure to June 30 for a portion of Crabtree Road,” Martinez said. “The road is closed from its intersection with Forest Road 4N25 at Aspen Meadows Pack Station to the Crabtree Trailhead. This order will be in effect until June 30, or until we determine the roads are sufficiently clear of snow and downed trees to allow for safe travel and to protect resources and roads from damage.”
The forest order and accompanying maps can be found at https://go.usa.gov/xUvWQ.
Precipitation during the 2018-2019 winter left significant snowpack in higher elevations across the forest. Visitors are encouraged to contact any ranger district office for current information on roads and conditions before traveling on the forest.
