Starting Wednesday, September 11, a Contractor will begin completing repairs at the Happy Isles Bridge in Yosemite Valley. The majority of the work will be around the abutments and wingwalls, however they will install a short detour to the downstream lane of the bridge for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic as crews will be staging materials and equipment in the upstream lane of the bridge. Expect minimal delays around the Happy Isles Bridge.
After the Happy Isles Bridge repairs are complete they will move to Pohono Bridge, El Capitan Bridge and finally the East Fork of the Cascade Bridge on the El Portal Road to complete repairs. The work on these three primary road bridges will include single lane traffic control with up to 15-minute delays. The work will continue thru the spring of 2020 and they are planning to work from 7AM to 7PM, Monday through Friday.
