...Elevated flood threat Saturday night into Monday...

.Periods of heavy rainfall are expected in the Southern Sierra
Nevada foothills and in the Southern Sierra Nevada below
7000 feet Saturday night into Monday. Substantial flooding is
possible in the form of mudslides, rockslides, and debris flow.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of central California, including the following
areas, Central Sierra, Central Sierra Foothills, North Kings
River, Sequoia Kings, and Southern Sierra Foothills.

* From 4 PM PST this afternoon through Monday afternoon

* Atmospheric conditions may support torrential rainfall below
7000 feet. Rain amounts of two to four inches are conceivable.

* Some roads may become impassible or washed out, resulting in
road closures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

..A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM PST THIS
AFTERNOON UNTIL 4 PM PST MONDAY AFTERNOON ABOVE 7000 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 7000 feet Saturday night into
Monday. Total snow accumulations of one to three feet above 7000
feet, with isolated amounts of four to six feet. One to two
inches of snow is likely from 5000 to 7000 feet. Winds could
gust as high as 55 mph on exposed ridgetops and along the crest.

* WHERE...Southern Sierra Nevada above 7000 feet.

* WHEN...From 4 PM PST this afternoon until 4 PM PST Monday
afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. If you
plan to travel, consider alternate strategies. Wind chill
readings of as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on
exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, remember to carry tire chains, plenty of food,
a good deal of water, and warm clothing in your vehicle.
