The 88th annual Yosemite Christmas Bird Count is this Sunday! The bird count is a free, all-day event, and is part of a National Audubon Society effort started in 1900 to census and celebrate birds during the holidays. Participants are assigned to a zone with a leader who is an expert at identifying birds and the goal is to identify and count as many birds as possible, and to have as much fun as possible! We will start shortly after dawn and continue until around 5 p.m. If you wish to participate, please contact Sarah Stock by email at
sarah_stock@nps.gov by the end of the day Wednesday so she can plan your zone assignment.
