...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO 1 AM PST
FRIDAY...

* CHANGES...Upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm
Warning.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches east of Highway 395, 5 to 10 inches west of Highway 395
and 12-20 inches along the Sierra crest. Winds gusting as high
as 55 mph with ridge wind gusts to 100 mph.

* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...From noon Thursday to 1 AM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Very strong winds
could cause tree damage and periods of white out conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for
many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry
an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay
home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THURSDAY TO
4 AM PST FRIDAY ABOVE 4000 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 4000 feet. Total snow
accumulations of 4 to 8 inches likely from 4000 to 5000 feet.
Snowfall of 8 to 12 inches expected from 5000 to 6000 feet.
Total snow accumulations 12 to 18 inches, likely above 6000
feet. Winds will gust as high as 55 mph on exposed ridgetops and
near the crest.

* WHERE...Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park southward to
near the Lake Isabella area.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Thursday to 4 AM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be extremely difficult or nearly
impossible. Road closures are likely due to snow cover. If you
plan to travel, consider alternate strategies.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The majority of snow will fall Thursday
afternoon and Thursday evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
