...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING
THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible above 4500 feet. 1 to 2 feet of
snow accumulations possible above 4500 feet. Local snow
accumulations up to 3 feet are possible above 7000 feet. Winds
could gust as high as 35 mph on exposed ridge tops.

* WHERE...Central Sierra and North Kings River Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Sunday morning through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be difficult to near
impossible for hikers and campers.

...MORE WINTER ON THE WAY THIS WEEKEND: PLAN FOR TRAVEL DISRUPTIONS
ACROSS THE SIERRA STARTING SATURDAY...

A couple of storms are on tap for the weekend that may result in
travel disruptions along the Sierra, aviation impacts, and
recreational hazards. The Saturday storm will be a quick hitter
with lighter precipitation, while the Sunday storm will be much
more robust and linger through early next week.

Saturday: This initial storm moves through quickly with gusty
winds and precipitation beginning by around midday. The system
quickly exits the Sierra and western Nevada by Saturday evening.
Light rain, or a mix of rain and snow above lower valley floors,
is possible in western Nevada, with a modest snowfall in the
Sierra. Travel impacts from snow in the Sierra and for northeast
California are expected to increase Saturday night.

Sunday: The stronger of the two storms begins to move in early
Sunday morning. Plan for heavier snow in the Sierra with periods
of white out conditions possible due to gusty winds, with aviation
turbulence, low level wind shear, and periods of rain and snow
showers for western Nevada. Wind gusts 30 to 40 mph, locally
to around 50 mph in wind-prone areas, will be possible for valley
locations with wind gusts to around 90 mph for exposed Sierra
ridges.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO NOON PDT
MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 6
inches above 5500 feet, with 1 to 2 feet along and west of
Highway 395 above 7000 feet. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph
in the lower elevations and up to 90 mph over Sierra ridges.

* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...From noon Sunday to noon PDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute. Very strong winds
could cause extensive tree damage.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel in the Sierra is strongly
discouraged this weekend. Please stay home, be safe.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for
many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry
an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay
home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.
