Prior to this news, I merely disliked Aramark...

I mean, how much would it cost them to continue to let people stay in housing in Yosemite through the summer? A few thousand bucks? A few tens of thousands?

No doubt, if the NPS were to rescind the contract with Aramark right now, Aramark would say it's entitled to tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars based on expected revenues for 10 or 11 years left on the contract.

Crap, they don't even have the decency to offer transportation to somewhere of each now-fired employee's choosing?

I'm not an Aramark fan but this is on the governor of California and the NPS officials. All the buses are running in major cities across the US.

Virus seems to be spreading mostly in retirement homes and a few selected indoor workplaces so let's close most of the outdoor recreation access. Then when the few open outdoor trails get massively overrun, they aren't a source of transmission.

Sure, there are plenty of excuses not to open Yosemite. I want someone in charge who can work around these constraints like the rest of the world is.

I share your concerns, Chulavista--but I should point out that the rest of the world is NOT resolving these issues any differently, and in many cases their restrictions are much more complete than ours...

I have a sister in Spain and a daughter in Switzerland. Both have had outside exercise of all types severely limited for weeks now...

You have a good point. It could be worse.

Great example of how having more information in modernity doesn't always make us smarter.

I miss the days of the YP&CurryCo. It seemed like they actually cared about Yosemite rather than treating it like a giant ATM that needed to be serviced constantly.
