RIP George Whitmore
January 03, 2021 12:02PM
Iconic climber George Whitmore passed away at 89 due to Covid-19 complications. I had the great pleasure to had been able to spent some time emailing and talking to him about Yosemite and protecting the park. I deeply regret that too many years had passed since our last conversations. He was a very interesting man and will be missed.

A legendary character=---and a legendary climb--as was the follow up. Those were such different days!
