BISHOP, CA July 6, 2021 — The Inyo National Forest South Tufa day use site, located on the south shore of Mono Lake, will be closed to the public Friday July 16 from sunrise until late afternoon. We hope visitors will use this information to plan their visit to the Eastern Sierra accordingly. The nearby Navy Beach will be open and not affected by the closure.

If you have questions, please contact the Mono Basin Visitor Center Thursday through Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Staff is providing in-person fuelwood permits, map and book sales and general forest information. If you have not yet been vaccinated, we ask that visitors wear a mask and maintain physical distancing while inside Forest Service buildings and facilities. The Visitor Center can also be reached by calling +1 760 647-3044 during business hours.

For more information on the Inyo National Forest, please visit the forest website recreation page https://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/inyo/recreation,
