Thw NPS website has the following information:

"Bridalveil Creek and Crane Flat Campgrounds will be closed in 2022 for rehabilitation."
From the info on the website, sounds like a major rehab at Crane Flat. Bridalveil Creek would have been closed anyway due to the Glacier Point Road project next year, so it sounds like they are taking advantage of that closure to upgrade/modernize the water system at the campground.

Crane Flat is being "rehabilitated" to accommodate large RVs.

Am I the only one who finds the NPS announcement to be self-contradictory?

"Crane Flat Campground was originally constructed in 1962 and designed to accommodate tents or small tow-behind trailers. As large Recreational Vehicles (RVs) are now a norm among American campers, many of the current campsites must be reconfigured. * * * In a world where more Americans are looking for opportunities to take a break from technology and enjoy the great outdoors, campgrounds are just as relevant today as they were to twentieth-century campers."

It looks like the author draws a distinction between large RV's and technology....
The article is from 9/8/22.
There is no projected Crane Flat opening date for 2023, but the website currently states: "Crane Flat Campground is scheduled to be open for the 2023 season pending completion of the rehabilitation project that started last year."

Bridalveil Creek is not open yet either.

once rehabilitated, hopefully the campground will not return to its criminal past of hosting tents. BTW, walked through it in mid-June on my way to Clarke Range view. looked in good shape, some trenching still in evidence. no telling how much infrastructure work was undone by record snowpack. with limited camping available on Tioga road corridor, I'm looking forward to its opening.

am amused at park service's statement that sites "must be reconfigured" because they're inconvenient for large RVs. don't recall it being empty and unused in its former incarnation. well, what's done is done. when it's done. maybe this year.

Bridalveil Creek is apparently not opening either:

"Outside Yosemite Valley:
Open: Reservations required: Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, Tamarack Flat, Porcupine Flat
First-come, first served: First come-first-served camping is not available until October.

Closed: Bridalveil Creek (not opening in 2023), Crane Flat (not opening in 2023), White Wolf (not opening in 2023), Yosemite Creek (not opening in 2023), and Tuolumne Meadows (not opening in 2023)"
