Conditions on trail White Wolf to Pate Valley?

My son and his friends are doing the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne from Glen Aulin and will be exiting White Wolf. We have heard very little about the trail conditions heading up from Pate Valley to WW. Heard the trail was washed out and huge debris field. Has anyone been out there? Would love to know what the conditions are and any thoughts on how long they should allot to do the climb from Pate Valley (I am picking them up). And are there any places to camp after Pate Valley and before the exit?
