Something for you all to ruminate over.by blooty - General Discussion
too bad I hadn't learned how to use that useless camera at this point, but the skeeters were attacking me. Okay, so Cougar, am I close enough to Sunrise now, hmmmm?by blooty - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
So, they "re-introduced" the wolf at (who knows?) what cost, and then (who knows?) years later re-introduce making it legal to kill one....put the license fee at $11.95 R and $186 NR? Sounds like typical politics to me...the taxpayers got screwed again. (not to mention the wolves!)by blooty - General Discussion
I had a v. nice time the end of June/early July. But, lots of skeeters at Sunrise! Looking down Lewis Creek toward Merced Lake (NOT towards Sunrise from Vogelsang Pass) Looking back towards Vogelsang HSC from the passby blooty - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Have you and your "newbies" been on any day hikes recently, so that you know their hiking capabilities? Are you doing any kind of training with your backpack? I was on that hike with Bee and I can tell you that the person who got sick had no business being on that trail, let alone with a backpack. She was out of shape, it didn't appear to me that she had done any sort of serious tby blooty - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteBee Ruby Lake (I think) Actually, I don't believe we went so far as to get to Ruby Lake. This appears to be, from my Tom Harris Map which I have of the entire area, a tarn :-) Ruby Lake is down there:by blooty - General Discussion
Well, allright then. Mini Bee doesn't have to go and straighten your butt out.by blooty - General Discussion
If you get stung by Bee, you must've really deserved it. I saw an enormous amount of stinger restraint over the weekend. Like I said, she is a v. special person.by blooty - General Discussion
Meet Mini-Bee. Chick-on needed some more competition..... Had the pleasure of meeting the Queen Bee in person, wish I lived closer to you all. Good hikers are v. hard to find, great backpackers even harder. Never met anyone who has her stuff so together, both mentally, physically, and organization-wise. I will miss her company a great deal. She is a genuinely kind and sincere person. Be niby blooty - General Discussion
I stayed one night recently at a very cute place in Fish Camp called the Narrow Gauge Inn. I would highly recommend it. It has a restaurant, pool, jacuzzi, is closer to the park entrance than Oakhurst, (maybe 10 minutes from the entry) yet the Portal (Mariposa) is still closer to the Valley. This place is closer to Wawona and Glacier Point. Has a complimentary continental breakfast and lovelyby blooty - General Discussion
The skeeters at Cathedral Lake and Sunrise Meadow were out in swarms over the first weekend of July. I was going to camp up by Sunrise HSC but they were so bad that I hiked out to Tuolomne. Water=Skeeters.by blooty - General Discussion
I wondered how the woman that fell off Cathedral peak was doing. I was hiking through Sunrise Meadow/Cathedral Lake at the time of the rescue and saw SARS Helos hauling her away, and I also ran into a couple of rangers with rescue equipment as I neared Tuolomne. I heard the next day that her hiking buddies did not want to leave, they wanted to continue climbing. Some friends....Haven't heard anby blooty - General Discussion

Don't get me started on the BLM and their "horse management". Colorado Springs, CO (July 7, 2008) – Claiming that they have a budget crisis the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the government agency charged with protecting wild horses, announced plans to consider euthanizing some or all of the 33,000 wild horses they have rounded up and confined in holding facilities. I will be doing some hiking the last week of June, Tuolomne to Vogelsang to LYV to Clouds Rest back to Tuolomne. Any recent beta that can be provided before then will be much appreciated.by blooty - General Discussion
