JAVMP - great pic! Was the trail up to Vernal Falls also covered in snow? We aren't really prepared for snow hiking as we don't have waterproof footwear. Wagga thanks for the heads up on those trails, I'll have to look into Alder Creek Falls, also looking at Chilnualna Falls but I'm afraid it's snow covered...since we'll mainly be in S. Howdy, I'm leaving for Wawona campground in the early morning and was wondering if anyone knows of current conditions there right now...snow on the ground? Also it looks like some of the day hikes we had planned won't be accessible because of the snow...any suggestions on day hikes that will be open both in the valley and near Wawona where snow won't be an issue (6-12 miles, hopefully no more tby girdog - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Thanks everybody, I've checked out all the mentioned trails and areas and they all look great, too bad there's not more hours in the day and days in the week! I've def. got some good ideas now but if you wish to follow up let me be a bit more specific. We are wanting to stay within an hour of Yosemite, pref to the north or west as to keep driving and gas costs minimal from the SF Bay. My girlfrby girdog - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I'm curios if anyone has spent much time in the National Forest lands surrounding Yosemite and if so do you have any suggestions on your favorite campgrounds and trails...I will have my dog with me. We will be heading out on Labor Day and looking to spend 3 nights in a National Forest where we can get some good hikes in with the dog then do a couple relaxing nights in Yosemite. So when it came down to it I could not use the Tabs and feel good about the water I was drinking. I've decided I will be buying a water filter and I think it is the only way to go except in an emergency situation. The thing with the Tabs were that even after sitting for the 4 hours (and more), the water had a yellow tint to it and whenever I opened the cap to my bottle you could see what seemedby girdog - General Discussion
Just got back and I did see em but had no problems...I used a Lemon Eucalyptus Oil by REPEL that worked great and is also better for yourself and the environment.by girdog - General Discussion
I really do hate consuming all the chemicals especially since I live on an organic vegetarian diet but I was led to believe the tabs were no worse for you chemical wise then tap water. I want to pickup a filter but I am super broke at the moment and the tabs were simply a cheap alternative/emergency backup. One thing with the filters is that most seem to have a super expensive cartridge replaceby girdog - General Discussion

Hello, Let me first say thanks to all of you that helped me out before on my post about camping at Yosemite Creek, much appreciated. So below I have a basic itinerary of my 4 days in the Park and I'm looking for some insight on which trails might be the best choice or if my plans have holes or not enough time alloted. One main question is if leaving from the Yosemite Creek Campground and headiby girdog - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I'll just go with the flow and hope the camping situation is cool but if not your advice is appreciated. On the shuttles...I thought about hitchhiking but figured you'd be cut down pretty quick by the rangers or get stranded and left to sleep with the bears. I just think its a shame the cost is so high for the shuttle service especially after paying entrance and camping fees, seems if it was morby girdog - General Discussion

Hello all, I'm heading to Yosemite for my first time next week (7/20-7/24) and had some questions that maybe yall insiders can help out with so I'm not overwhelmed once I get there. I as I'm sure most people do, want to get as far away from the crowds as possible. I would prefer to backpack but due to a broken collarbone and recovering from a severely sprained ankle ive decided to just setup cby girdog - General Discussion
