Ouch. Death by pet bear.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
You probably shouldn't believe it all, but there are some amazing things we can do with it. The rate that it grows and it's strong fibrous nature being the key qualities. Once we cut down a tree, it can't be replaced in a matter of months (to put it mildly) like you can do with an entire field of hemp over and over. It makes a better paper than tree fiber in all respects, and we've even got efby Dr_Watso - General Discussion
Hemp might help further our nation, and get us away from being dependent on cutting so many trees, but it's not going to do anything about the tragedy and utter waste that is our un-winnable war on a plant that most people regard as harmless.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
QuoteVince QuoteDr_Watso Wouldn't be an issue if we could just legalize and stop harassing people for growing and using a plant. I don't smoke, and I most certainly wouldn't smoke that stuff if I did, but I agree. It's a matter of time. But, California has so much to do without that junk, it's too bad people crave it so badly and waste so much time with it (the same people who say it isn't aby Dr_Watso - General Discussion

Quoteeeek QuoteDr_Watso Geez... A fall of 15 feet and that's it. Scary. Ever fallen 15 feet? Yes. I free-climb and boulder a good deal, I've had my lumps. I generally wear a helmet, but even with that, I shouldn't deny the reality of such falls. I couldn't walk on my ankle for a week after a fall of less than 15.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion

My brain exploded from all the math, and now there's bloody mess all over my monitor. Good thing I don't need the brain to work.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
I've been on those slopes, and you simply cannot stop your mind from wandering into the "geez, if I slipped here, it could be all over in a matter of moments." thought path. Depending on how high the water at the bottom was, he was lucky he didn't fall further down.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion

Yea, it was "coming at him" by the deputy's memory. Of course, everyone else saw him chasing the poor bear in his squad car and heard it screaming in pain as he ran. Dogs and bears are of the same evolutionary line, and both are rather smart. He knew what was going on as he was gunned down.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion

I noticed a typo in the subject line. I think they meant to say "Labor Day weekend is a Maximum Revenue Period for the California Highway Patrol".by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
Sigh. Humans can be so simple minded. Violence is almost always the first, last, and only option that pops into their minds. We put our houses right up next to their homes and habitats, then it's their fault when they wander the wrong direction. I just can't agree with doing this.by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
Hi all, New poster, long time Yosemite back country fan, and I've been lurking here for a bit. Figured I may as well sign up and add my argumentative nature to the mix. Cheers, and hello!by Dr_Watso - General Discussion
