Fabulous report, pictures, etc. I'm hardly the expert, but have been to the Diving Board a couple times. (both solo) It is hard to imagine a group of any size getting there without a steady stream of dirt, rocks and other debris raining down on the lower hikers. Something to consider on another trip. You didn't fail. You improvised.by AnotherDave - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I've only been through New Mexico once, and stopped in Santa Fe for one reason: Loretto Chapel/"Miracle" Staircase. If you've ever built anything with your own two hands, these are things to marvel at. After seeing these photos, there are other reasons to go back. Thanks.by AnotherDave - General Discussion

The euphoric feeling you mention brings back some memories. There have been times in the Park when, overcome by the sheer 'Yosemite of it all', I wanted to drop to the ground and cry like a baby, while shaking a fist at the sky and unleashing a Tarzan yell of victory, both at the same time. Whatever this feeling is called, it only happens in one place. Enjoyable trip report. Nice woby AnotherDave - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Prior to the location of the fall being made public, I also guessed Columbia Rock as a possibility. The UYF Trail gets a lot of use, there is something cool in the background and it must be at least that high above the floor. Regardless, that would've been a tough phone call.by AnotherDave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

With a Sept. trip to the Park starting to take shape, I'm once again looking for something scary to do. I've tried to find the trail head to Indian Canyon twice and failed both times. I'm going to copy the photo of the starting spot offered in this thread and see if the third time is a charm. A question about this hike: Is it even worth looking for the trail head at the TOP of the canyon,by AnotherDave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I keep hearing great things about the Mighty 5 in Utah. So many places; so little time. Went to the Grand Canyon in Feb. So did everybody who ever lived west of the Rockies. And their brothers, sisters and uncles. Probably a spectacular place, but not on that day. Your photo of the window reflection is fabulous. Thanks for the report.by AnotherDave - General Discussion
I've seen this place on the map, but never been in the area. I wonder if it was going to be another classic dome, but lacked the oomph that produced the higher North, Sentinel, Half, etc. The list of places to go just keeps getting bigger.by AnotherDave - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Alex, I have NO experience hiking in the snow, but in September I did a monster hike that involved most of the places you named... Half Dome Village-CR-Tenaya Lake-Snow Creek Trail-HDV This was one lap of Tenaya Canyon, for lack of a better title. Also, I've gone from the Valley to CR and back-big but not ridiculous. They are probably tougher in the snow, but both can be done.by AnotherDave - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

In my lifetime, I have yet to consume an entire pot of coffee, but on a trip to CA in Sept., some friends took me to Dutch Bros., a place they said would make you throw rocks at Starbucks. They bought me a girly drink infused with chocolate, caramel, sprinkles, whipped cream, etc. In order to appease their generosity, I drank the entire $6 concoction.
